Before Prompt, Lookout Valley Chiropractic was using a legacy EMR that had not kept up with the realities of running a modern clinic. The system was limited in both usability and functionality, and it forced Josh to complete many tasks inside the clinic rather than remotely.
As Josh describes it, the software felt like it belonged to a different era.
“ Our old system was very outdated. It felt like it was built on Windows 98 and then they never attempted to even go to XP,” Josh said. “I don't think they made a single change the entire time I was using it.”
Beyond the outdated interface, the biggest issue was access. Without cloud-based functionality, any documentation catch-up required physically staying at the clinic after hours.
“I couldn’t access it from home, so I’d have to stay in the office often after hours,” Josh said.
While the EMR covered core workflows, key pieces of the patient experience still required external tools. Payment collection and texting lived outside the system, and billing required moving information between multiple platforms and clearinghouses.

“Sometimes patients give you a lot of detail and it's all really important, but you can't get all of it. But now I can,” Josh said.
The AI really listens to everything the patient says. It puts my pain scales, my range of motions. It just adds real detail that I wouldn't have time to fill in. And that means I don't have to stay late at the clinic anymore to catch up on notes.”
Even in long-term patient relationships, it can be difficult to remember the exact context of the last episode of care, especially in a high-volume clinic.
